A Mother's Day Weekend

This little guy has been keeping me extra busy the last few days.  Last Friday, I joined Brett for breakfast at his daycare in celebration of Mother's Day.

So excited for muffins with mom!

Saturday, Aunt Dana, Jessica, Will and I headed to Spring Hill for the Daffodil Festival (unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the boys together).  Not sure how they came up with the name since we didn't see a single flower, but it was a great time.
Checking out the firetruck!

Getting a lift in the CAT.

His first peek at a school bus.

Brett took it upon himself to take a tour.

Looks like Brett won't have any problem taking the bus to preschool next year.

It's Time to Party!

I know it's hard to believe, but Brett turned 2 on Saturday!

He got some pretty cool gifts.  Here are a few of the highlights.

Nana and Papa Peters were able to find a scooter that was just his size!

His other Nana and Papa got him a BIG tunnel to play with.

He was introduced to a guy named Elmo!

Cody and I got Brett a choo-choo train that he was mesmerized by.

While Brett loved all his gifts, his most coveted gift is a car shaped ball pit from his Uncle Cory and Aunt Laura.

Brett gave a big smile and thanked everyone for celebrating the day with us.

We then headed upstairs for some snacks.

It was then time for the long awaited birthday cake.

Brett gave blowing out the candles a good shot, but ended up needing a little help from dad.

The best part was he was able to stay clean this year!

Now, I just have to find somewhere to put all Brett's new toys.  Specifically the 170 balls that came with his car.

A big thanks to everyone the took part in this special day!

It's Official- Brett is Big!

Today was a big day for Brett.  We had a visit with the cardiologist where we were told that Brett's repairs were fully healed and we don't have to go back for 2 years!  The doctor looked a little sad that she wasn't going to see Brett for a while, but who can blame her.

We also made a trip to the pediatricians office.  We've spent a considerable about of time at Dr. Winburns' getting shots, so Brett was hesitant about going.

It took some time, but Cody was able to wrangle the boy.

Brett was excited to hear that he didn't have to get any shots this time around.  Even better, he doesn't have a scheduled visit until his 3 year (I'm sure we'll be back before the end of May though).

The best news was that we were given the go ahead to switch Brett's car seat to forward facing.  Brett had to assess the new found leg room he had.

I think he was pleased!

The Things That Ail Us

Brett has had a rough few weeks.  I blame it on myself as I bragged one too many times that Brett hadn't really been sick.  He's only had to be on an antibiotic once- that is until a month ago.

In the last month the kid has had ring worm, pink eye and an ear infection.  I blame some of it on the fact that he moved from an in-home daycare to a center last month.  We love that he is getting some interaction with kids his own age and is being forced to vocalize to get what he wants (apparently only mom knows the difference between his "all done" and "wheels on the bus" signs).  However, this also means he is exposed to some new germs and bacteria.

This week Brett has a new ailment.

He has broken out in hives!  While the pediatrician has assured us it is an allergic reaction to something, it still grosses me out.

I can't recall any changes we've made to soap, detergent, foods, etc. so we aren't sure what is causing the reaction.  Hopefully some Benadryl and time will kick the spots.

In the mean time, Brett seems to be staying positive!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Reason

Today is national Spread the Word to End the Word Day.  This little ham is my reason for taking the pledge many months ago.  What's your reason?

Click the link or go to www.r-word.org to take the pledge yourself.

I was hoping to have a nice picture to put with this post, but Brett no longer sits still.  Enjoy!

Why We Love Aunt Dana!

She makes us laugh!

She gives good kisses!

She let's me be silly!
(This looks like Brett's trying to escape, but I assure you he loves the girl)

She visits us as often as she can!

She teaches us new things!

Did I mention, she makes us laugh?

Thanks for all you do.  We love you Aunt Dana!

It's a Day Full of Hearts!

Since Brett's true Heart Day was a busy one, don't tell Brett, but we celebrated a few days early.

As this was our first celebration, and I lack in the creativity department, we went with a heart themed day (go figure, right?!).

We started off with some pink, heart shaped pancakes.  Pancakes are Brett's favorite breakfast.

For lunch we enjoyed some heart shaped hamburgers.

While Brett will eat just about anything, he would much rather munch on fruits and veggies.  He didn't disappoint when he filled up on broccoli and yogurt and fed a good portion of his burger to the dog.

After a much needed nap, we moved on to arts and crafts.  This table and chair set is one of Brett's Christmas gifts.  Don't tell Papa and Nana Peters that we used it.

Daddy helped place the hearts, but Brett did a good job making them stick.  I'm still learning to let go enough to let Brett express himself through his artwork.
Brett's finished project!

We then took a "heart healthy" walk and enjoyed some time in our new backpack (if you don't have one, you need to get one).

Brett helped make pizza for dinner.  Unfortunately for the dog she wasn't lucky enough to get any of this from Brett.

And finished the evening with some colorful JELLO.

We are already looking for ways to celebrate next year.  How do you celebrate your child's Heart (or any other) Day?
